Gonorrhea is sexually transmitted diseases (STD) brought about by the bacteria called neisseriagonorrhoeae. This grows and spreads rapidly on warm, moist areas of the reproductive tract. These areas are the inner lining of the urethra, cervix, rectum, fallopian tubes and the uterus. This also grows through the bloodstream within the mouth, eyes, throat and anus of both male and female.

The common symptoms include a white, green or yellowish discharge of pus from the penis. There are times that the testicles are swollen and the hole of the penis looks red.
For female patients, early signs and symptoms of STD usually occur between seven to twenty one days after the onset of the infection. With women patients, the symptoms do not usually show for several weeks or months and if they does show, it is usually very mild that it is usually falsely diagnosed as vaginal or urinary tract infection. But then some show signs of severe symptoms which include the urge to urinate, painful and burning sensation when urinating, abnormal increase in vaginal discharge or the spotting or bleeding in between the monthly periods.
Homosexual men and women who engage in sex through the rectum or anus have the possibility of getting the sexually transmitted disease in the rectum. The location of the anus will be reddish and rough, feels uncomfortable around the area of the anus and the stool usually is covered by pus and mucus.
Those who have oral sex with a person infected with the bacteria can get the disease as well. The person may not suffer from the infection though sometimes the person infected with the bacteria will have swallowing disorders and sore throat.
Once you experience some of the signs and symptoms after you had been active in sex, both you and your partner should seek medical advice and get tested right away. The safest way and the simplest method of protecting from getting the infection is to always use condom or abstain completely from being sexually active.
There are various ways on getting infected by the bacteria. Do you know that a newborn baby can get infected with the bacteria if the mother is infected? Any person that is sexually active can be infected with the bacteria. There is a study that STD is common among teenagers who are sexually active teenagers, young adults and in African Americans.
If we could only do away with the negatives and concentrate on the positive, there is a decrease possibility of contacting STD. Naturally, our goal is to keep away from contacting the disease but still enjoy sex with our partner. Even if your partner is looking at the peak of his health, if you could ask your partner to have a monthly STD tests together with you, then you will peace of mind and enjoy having sex with him to the fullest.
